THE BENNETT AWARD

THE BENNETT AWARD

The Bennett Award is to give Recognition to Individuals that have stepped up and changed the course of the outcome. I have designed this album to give credit where credit is due. In no way is this award designed to take away from any other members contribution. There is no voting and all Nominees are chosen solely by me.  Day after day Newday seems to leave out the Heroic efforts that you put on the line day in and day out. This fueled me to start THE BENNETT AWARD. You don't win anything, but hopefully it will give you a moment of satisfaction of knowing you made a difference. I will not be posting just
anyone in this album. If I post you, it's because you earned it!

Award #1
Island Park, New York

On February 29th 2008 the Island Park Fire Department were called to a working house fire at 188 Suffolk Road. Before the 1st arriving apparatus was on scene Chief's Edward Madden, James Ruzicka Jr and Ex-Chief Robert Wells found a women banging on the window from the second floor of the fully involved house. With the combined effords of all 3 of these firefighters they used a ladder from the house next door and climb up to the women. They pulled her out the window and carried her down the ladder to safety.  Without the actions of these 3 heros the elderly female would not be alive today. As usual, Newsday did not mention the actions of Madden, Ruzicka and Wells and that is why I am giving these 3 firefighters THE BENNETT AWARD. Congratulations to these Men and the Island Park Fire Department.

Award #2
Long Beach, New York

On June 27th 2008 the Long Beach Fire Department responded to the boat ramp for a report of a child in the water. Early reports were that the child jumped in the water and never came up. When the Long Beach Chief arrived it was confirmed and a water rescue was ordered. Island Park Water Rescue, Freeport Water Rescue, East Rockaway Water Rescue and Wantagh Water Rescue, as well as LBPD Marine 1, NCPD Marine 5, TOH Bay Constable, US Coast Guard and NCPD Aviation and Atlantic Beach Rescue Water Rescue all were assigned. The child was just to deep and when Scott Braun (of the Freeport Dive Team) arrived he entered the water and found the child. Although the child did not make it Scott Braun changed the outcome. You all have a job to do and everyone at the scene did their job right. By Scott recovering the child from the water it spared the Family from the possiblity of not having their child or finding their child weeks later. This is why I have chosen Scott Braun for the THE BENNETT AWARD.
